Rignano Garganico has been called the "balcony of Puglia" as it overlooks the plain of the Tavoliere. The balcony is used as a launching pad for hang gliding enthusiasts.
Several inscriptions in the nearby Grotta Paglicci date the historical origins of Rignano to the Paleolithic era. A dolmen of international importance was found in the cave, which also houses noteworthy Neolithic wall paintings.
The ancient village of Rignano was recently embellished with a bass-relief that depicts the beauty of the art and landscape of the Gargano.
The bread here is the best, risen and baked according to artisan methods handed down from generation to generation by the housewives of the town.
