Monte Sant'Angelo, located at a height of about 800 meters, dominates the plain below the promontory’s southern spur.
The town offers a truly limitless number of churches and monuments for tourists to explore: among the most important visitors will find the Sanctuary of San Michele (Saint Michael), the Tomb of Rotari, the "Tancredi" Ethnographic Museum, the Civic Library and the Church of Saint Maria di Pulsano (Saint Mary of Pulsano).
The popular and traditional Tarantella dance remains quite alive in the city, along with other Garganic dances and songs that were historically performed during various kinds of celebrations.
Sant'Angelo is also a destination for several pilgrimages: the most famous are on foot during May and on September 29 to celebrate San Michele (Saint Michael).
